Antequera
The good thing about this drive out is you can take your time getting there,
then whizz back on the motorway! Or do it the other way round
We drove to Malaga and took the turn off just before that bad underpass in
Malaga and followed the road up through Villanueva de la Concepción,(signposted
Carlos Hya Hospital and Anteqera) the
road is marked as the C3310, then MA 423 then Ma 424.
The scenery is stunning all the way from Malaga with lots of impromptu picnic
areas and just before Almogia there is a great view down to lake Casasola.
Almogia is strange, with two ways in but they both take you the same route, just
in different directions! we couldn't find anywhere in the town to eat so we
stopped at restaurant El Coco which is on the left on a bend as you leave
Almogia. The Paella was good, sausages too and at 1,000 pesetas a head including
a salad and a beer, good value (all dishes on the menu were 600 pesetas)
Just before Antequera there is a huge camping/picnic area with football pitch
and play areas and old mills and things.
Antequera is really nice, with a sort of Parisian feel to it, and I guess would
be a good place to explore with an overnight stay.
As time was getting on we took the shortcut back down the N331(just follow the
signs for Malaga) and we were back in one of the beach bars between Torrox and
Nerja for a glass of wine and in time to watch the sunset.
Time to get to Antequera 5 hours with loads of stops!
Time to get back to Nerja 90 minutes with one stop for coffee.
