Nerja Taxis

Nerja taxis need a mask and a gun! we came from Nerja Club Hotel to Maro, he dropped us off at the 1st roundabout at 10.30pm last night and it was 8 euros! and he didnt even speak apart from the the price. Are there any rates regarding distances and prices. Why do they not have meters? I have heard that deregulation is coming so we hopefully will get competative prices from private hire which can only be a good thing.

The prices are set by the town hall in conjuntion with the drivers. If you go to the town hall they will give you a price list

That is good to know. If anyone has one of these price lists maybe they could post it on here, it could prove to be enlightening. I disputed a price with a driver once, a couple of years ago, and after he saw my friend noting his details he agreed he may have made a mistake and knocked 2 euros off.

Laslomas although I appear to have lost my list, if pòsted on here the town hall would not know there is a problem. If lost of people go to the T: H: and ask for the list, it will make them think " we might have a problem" with the taxis

Thanks for info, will go to town hall and ask for taxi price list, good idea that many people go and ask for price list, maybe things will change.

Any idea where in the Town Hall to go for the list? I have spent ages in queues there only to be told I am at the wrong desk, then queue all over again just to be told the same again. Will they have them at the Foreigners Office?

We went to the Town Hall, second floor, inside the door on the left is the Transport officer. He was very helpful and explained that taxis in and around Nerja were 5-6 euros, 7 euros for urbanizations on fringe of Nerja, Maro is 8 euros, Frigliana 10 euros, centre of Malaga 60 airport 69, if you telephone a taxi you will be charged as if you had picked it up from the rank.
He was very concerned that there should be no overcharging the only days were you would pay more than this are 24th and 31st December.
He also said that if you thought you had been overcharged go and see him with the taxi number or reciept and he would deal with the matter personally.
I still think these rates are very expensive and will only be using them when necessary.

No, the fares quoted above are for 6am till 10pm.
After 10pm and at weekends/holidays add 1 euro.

Thanks Nerja Bloke. I thought that was the case and an important point I think as nights and weekends are exaclty the times when many people would want to use a taxi.

Well Nerja Bloke. When I get a taxi anytime of the day or night or early hours of the morning or even very late hours in the morning I am charged the same price , and that goes for any day or fiesta day. So I must disagree with your last entry/

Nerja taxis are expensive went to Malaga yesterday to do the tapas run wanted to catch the 23.oo bus back to Nerja so caught a taxi from the old part back to the bus station not any easy route they have all their roads dug up like Nerja. The price for 4 people 2.43euros.
A bargain and we caught the bus.
