6pm and the party is warming up at The Chapel!
The weather is fabulous and the Chapel Bar is ready for todays big St George’s Day party.
Ian has even written the words out for “Jerusalem” No excuses at the sing song then

Vago’s Bar in Nerja is having a David Bowie night tonight, not sure what time it starts but if you like Bowie pop in!
The film crew that were here in Nerja last year were here to make a video for Spanish Pop Star Capitan Truxton for his new single released this week. It might not be your kind of music but it does show Nerja off to the world
There is still snow on La Maroma near Velez Malaga that can clearly be seen from Nerja.
Work continues on El Barrio with the entrance area from Plaza Cavana almost complete now. The next 60/70 meters one side is complete.
The work on replacing the old fencing on the paseo at Torrecilla is coming along splendidly and at 10am everything stops for breakfast.
Sadly the streets where you can see the old cobbled style have all but disapeared in the town and most streets now have cast concrete with the cobble effect. However Calle Tracos which runs between Calle Pintada and Los Huertos still has a reasonably good example of the old pebble finish.
Although the official date for St George’s Day is the 23rd April, to take advantage of the weekend The Chapel Bar is having their usual St George’s Bash on this Sunday the 22nd.
It all starts from 3pm ( but will finish on the 23rd ) . Mini fete on the square outside the bar including – Tug of war, Ball through the hole, Tin can alley, Man in the stocks, Egg and spoon, Wire loop game, Darts, Quiots, Tombola, BBQ and music. A Great day out for the family. Proceeds to the Royal British Legion. As Will once said “Cry ‘God for Harry, England, and Saint George!’ “
Thanks to Maureen Napier for the photograph of Torrecilla beach in Nerja taken in 1985 before the paseo was built and when you could still park right on the beach. click here
Tobacco prices have risen today, my packet of fags now costs 4.10 an increase of 25 centimos on the old price.

The second annual craft fair that was held this weekend in Plaza de Espana behind the town hall had around fifty stalls and was deemed such a success that it has been announced that it is to be held every month which can only be a good thing.
When the first suggestions to relocate the Tuesday (street) market out of town were made by the town hall, the market traders suggested Plaza Espana as an alternative but this was dismissed by the town hall.
