Beaches outside Nerja
Molina de Papel

Approximately 2.6 kilometres from Maro towards Almunecar just before the end of the three lane bit, and just past the end of a big bridge there is a tiny right turn on the bad bend. Indicate well in advance to avoid being rear ended. Immediately you are off the road keep turning hard right down the short track to the very old coast road and then left again. You are not supposed to drive much past this point so the beach is a short walk down but well worth it. No sand just lots of small to large pebbles and getting in the water is also a bit tricky but the sea here is crystal clear and the views back to Nerja are fabulous especially at sunset.
No facilities at all but a real gem.

Cabria

Just the other side of Almunecar as you wind down the big hill after the tunnel you will see the new hotel Playa Calidad on your right and then on the right hand bend you will see the sign for Playa Cabria. Follow the riverbed right to the beach. If you walk along the main beach to the east you will see a newish walkway that leads to another cove called black beach (volcanic sand) and above you will see the Devils Tower.

Great restaurant on Cabria beach called Restaurante Antonio excellent food & service and right on the beach

The nudist beach near Nerja

About 10-15 minutes drive to the East of Nerja, the turn off is before the big tunnel (Cerro Gordo) near the sign on the right for La Herradura. It looks like a big lay-by and the sign naturist beach is easily missed but the sign for the natural park is close to the track down to the beach.
The track used to be absolutely awful with great big pot holes, but now it has been "re-surfaced" you can get down in any vehicle.
The beach is a bay that is flanked on either side by the mountains that run down to the sea, the sand is quite good, although on the pebbly side.
You don't have to go nude but a lot do, and it seems a good spot for scuba diving as almost everyday there are divers here.
There are sun beds and umbrellas at 600 pesetas, but you do get waiter service from the boy you pay the beds for. A tip is expected for this service.
The food at the two bar restaurants is good although as usual after 2pm they are very busy.

Cotobro Beach Almunecar

Just before the road drops down to Almunecar and on a left hand bend you will see a sign for Cotobro. This is the short cut down to the beach at the very west of Almunecar beach. No bars or restaurants but a lot less busy than the main beach in Almunecar.

We were there in August and it was relatively quiet, wheras the main beach was heaving.

A mixture of sand and pebbles, quite nice really, but just a few feet into the sea and there are big pebbles which can make it difficult to get in and out of the sea.
