If you like Italian food try the  Made in Itali restaurant on Calle Merida (at the side of the Monica Hotel) the food is excellent and reasonable and Natasha, Jessica and Lorena will make you very welcome. Tom and Edwina Melling Feb 07

We have been visiting Nerja for years, and several times a year since we are now lucky enough to own an apartment there. So sad to see Cafe Carlos close it was one of our favourites. Bar Okey (Irish bar) on Calle Gloria is a must, as is Jose y Victoria in Calle Malaga, friendly Spanish. Camaleon and Nerja de Nerja (Brussels) both at Burriana are also two of our regular haunts not to be missed. When we were last in Nerja in January we found a new restaurant unfortunately I don't remember what is was called it is an Argentinean restaurant and is on Calle Chaparil and was originally "Mama Rosas" it was empty the night we went which is such a shame as the owner was so friendly and the steak was just to die for, you just don't get steak like that at home anymore. So if your visiting Nerja and you like steak I would recommend this place we only found it on our second to last night or we would have gone again. I hope it's still there when we go back in May.

I have been looking for property to buy in Nerja and would recommend Easycasa and Rob Lockie as the estate agent with a great amount of patience!! thanks for all the help Rob

I found the recommendations very helpful in this section and will give some of them a try when I come out in March 2007.  In the 12 years I have been going to Nerja I find I stick to MY old faithfulls - always on my list is "El Candil", the standard and quality is always the same, and I never miss a visit to this restaurent.  I did notice a few newish restaurents, new to me that is, when I was out in October 2006, but will certainly give some of them a try in March.  Oh, we enjoyed the Trop y Sol bar - more a snack bar type place - down on Burriana Beach, where we had a few nice lunches (toasties and that sort of thing) and a few breakfast (scrambled egg and bacon and toast for me) which I really enjoyed.
 Anne Craig, Scotland, January 2007

Nobody seems to mention la casita for good food. Its simple and easy but tastes great. Thomas the owner is very friendly and makes you very welcome, also very cheap. we come to Nerja many times a year. cheers kev & mandy allan Jan 2007

We were in Nerja for New Year, the weather was lovley and we were able to grab a few hours of sun
every day we were nicely surprised that cafe new orleons was open again, and as usual had a lovely
meal there, also a mention for  cafe del mar down at the beach, we had several nice meals there and

they make you feel very wellcome, we look forward to returning in the summer, can't wait.

It is high time the two cafeterias opposite the hotel Monica had a mention, We fell in love with Nerja 25 years ago and the Jamaica and later,La Forjas restaurants have always been our first stop off points as hungry travvellers. The food and wine is excellent vfm and the reception from the staff is always friendly.

We called into The Taste of India over xmas and despite my reluctance to try something Indian, Paul insisted I try the lamb korma....my first experience and I loved it. We will be back!
Louise & Paul Chelsmford Jan 2007

I would like to say thank you to the staff of restaurant Cosmopolitan at Burriana Playa in Nerja. The seven course "real quality" meal during new years eve was great and Jerry the chef realy understand his cooking. Absolutely worth to try if you like dining out in a trendy place.

I have arrived back in the U.K. after a week in Nerja. This was my second trip of the year here. I wanted to

grab a few rays of sunshine before Christmas and to escape the increasingly cold weather back home.

The trip was a success on all counts. I had some great walks along promenades and by the side of lovely

quiet beaches, but I was pleased to find so much life still around the town, and so many restaurants and bars functioning at this time of the year. A really good value time of the year to visit.

I enjoyed another good meal at La Teja restaurant, near the Monica. Not to be confused with the cafeteria of

the same name, this restaurant offers a high quality menu. Not a cheap eatery but I had an excellent leg of

lamb, which was one of the specialities of the day. Also ate again at the Heveli Indian restaurant, which has an Indian menu of very high quality. I understand that they are starting a Sunday lunch buffet which may be worth a try. The choice around the town of tapas bars is excellent and is a superb way of dining at very

good prices. I can’t wait for my next visit!

I found Annie’s Irish bar for the first time, which is a lovely, cosy proper bar with a terrific atmosphere, and had the pleasure of meeting Neville, the patron and producer of this excellent website. I have found so much help and information on its pages over a few years. It’s my round next, Neville!

Just returned from our annual visit to Nerja and as usual had a great time. Thanks to Angie and Pat at

Speakeasy, and Linda at Linda's Bar for the good company. Also can I recommend restaurant La Teja where we had a fabulous meal. Lots of great tapas and would like to recommend La Bodeguilla.
See you all next year. Keep up the good work on your website.

For those who don't mind stepping out of Nerja, we have just come back from a lovely few days in Torrox.

There are some great restaurants along the promenade itself and the pueblo is well worth a visit:  we went to Restaurante El Figan and had one of the best meals we have ever had in our many visits to Nerja / Torrox.  Also recommended (although a little of the beaten track) are restaurants La Roima and El Azarfran in Torrox Park.

Kaz - October 15 2006

Smiffs Book and Card Store in the arcade near the Post Office was a revelation. They had many more books than I imagined a small shop would have, and quite a few of the most recent releases by Irish authors.  One of the joy of finding indpendent bookstores like this is the stamp that the owners put on them through selecting books that the chain stores ignore.  Well done Elspeth - a fine voice too (I've heard her singing in Irish Annie's Bar)website is www.booksaboutspain.com  While I am at it, top wine bars (bodegas) are El Vinoleto at the west end of call Antonion Millon, where they have nouveau tapas to die for, and great wines, and La Posada Iberica in Calle Nueva, which is a narrow street over the middle part of Calle Pintada. They still do free tapitas with their excellent dirnks, something thatt is hard to find these days.

Sean O'Driscoll. Oct 06

At our most recent visit to Nerja we were recommended to try the new restaurant at Los Arcos Hotel on the Maro road.   We were not disappointed in this excellent eating place.   Would consider it one of the best restaurants in Nerja.   Also, must say we are disappointed that Cafe New Orleans is to close in November with the owners moving to Berlin. Hopefully they may decide to come back to Nerja at some point.
Moira  (Dundee) Oct 06

Enjoyed an excellent, very inexpensive meal, in The Dragon Inn.   Came upon it by chance as it is tucked away. Food and service were very good.

Just back from a visit to Nerja and fell in love with it. So much so we have decided to get married there next September and its all arranged. We were in Irish Annies bar and she recommended an Irish girl called Sonya who helps to plan and organise weddings over there. We met up her and within 2 hours it was all arranged and booked! Her email is sonya_kc@hotmail.com. We chose the Toboso - cochrans for the reception - it has a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea - perfect for evening drinks. We found lots of great restaurants too - No 34on carabeo street for a treat, for tapas - la marina, for an indian - the taste of india and for good home cooked food and mars bar cheesecake!- Camaleon on Burriana beach.

We have just returned from two weeks in Nerja and would like to recommend "The Ship" bar opposite the

Monica hotel. The dutch owners Michel and Agnes are wonderful hosts and make everybody welcome.
Bob & Tina Oct 2006

The Cottage  excellent restaurant with professional staff and fine surroundings. Well worth a visit.

John Innes Sep 06

Thank you to everyone who has posted recommendations on this site.  It helped us to have a great time in Nerja last week.  We went to Burriana beach to try Camaleon and had a wonderful evening.  The food and atmosphere were just right.  It's in a great location surrounded by other quality bars and restaurants just before you get to the beach front.  We went back a second time to have the Mars Bar cheesecake again!!

Also went to El Ninos and New Orleans (which has opened again).  Both certainly lived up to the

recommendations we had read. Can't wait to visit Nerja again.

Judith Wilkins Sep 06

We have just returned from Nerja and although we read that Cafe New Orleans had closed we were delighted to find Steve and Brandon had opened up again.  We are never disappointed when we go there the food and the hospitality by both of them is fantastic, however you will have to visit soon as the restaurant will only be open until November 5th.
Our other recommendation is El Nino which we found in our last couple of days, the food was lovely and staff very attentive.

I have just returned from 2 weeks in Nerja. As a regular visitor for the past 9 years i was very disappointed to

read on this page that Cafe New Orleans had closed. However when I arrived in Nerja I was pleased to see that it was actually open - but not for long as Steve and Brandon are relocating to Berlin! If anyone is travelling to Nerja before November 2006 I would highly recommend a visit. You will not be disappointed, the food is still excellent and the service is second to none. Go before it's too late!! Sep 06

Have just returned from Nerja only our second visit in the last 5 years, so don't profess to be an expert, but can give some pointers on restaurants we went to. We went back to Restaurant 34 on the Carebeo, changed a little bit, but still really good. Great service, nice food and excellent house red. Very pricey, but so what you are on holiday. Really loved Chamelon, nice fresh food, busy friendly, home made chips (my daughter loved them) Bella Roma behind the Balcon fantastic Pizzas. Dolce Vita on c/Cristo, ok nice restaurant, but Salad pre-packed, but very friendly right next to Lindas bar. Ayos on the Burriana beach fab for Paella. Antica Roma on the Carebeo ok if you want seaviews, but service erratic, food ok. El Gato Negro, again this is a return visit, not as good as it was few years ago, but ok if you really hungry. Ran out of time to get the all that we wanted to, but will return next year.

Having been a regular to Nerja for 30 years now, we have seen a lot of changes. However there are a lot of

excellent eating places, our very favorite one was Miguel's now sadly closed also New Orlean's sadly this also recently closed. however "34" and Pepe Rico's are still going strong also Chameleon recently opened along at Burrianna beach is worth a visit. We love our breaks away to Nerja  and meet many people who have gone time and time again. I thank you and your helpers for keeping this web site going for a lot of Nerja regular holiday makers. We need to keep up with changes that are going on. Thanks

My wife and I have been coming to Nerja for over ten years and there are lots of places we enjoy.
La Pulguilla is great for seafood and the Pata Negra never disappoints. We love the Bar Redondo and

Los Cunaos for tapas and drinks too. We never fail to pop in at Linda's Bar in the evenings for a chat.

We also like Meson Pepe, the Bar Okey (when the yearning for a pie and a pint of guinness is too much for me!) We often have a late breakfast at either the Marazul or Speak Easy. In other words we get around a bit. Lots of other great places too. We will be over in November for our annual fix.

Tom Riley, Disley, Cheshire. July 06

We go to Nerja every year and have been for the last 20 years, there are so many good restaurants to go to,

cafe new orleons was one of the good ones, but to our dismay when wee went last week  the restaurant has

now closed, there is still pepe mesa and scarlettas, to name but a few, and must mention cochranes irish bar just off the balcon, it has superb views, and a very good pint of murphys irish red, as my husband informed me.

Costa del Sol Printers Alfonso 12, Nerja (just off C/Pintada) Great service and prices and speed of service.

For flyers, posters, menus, just about all your printing needs.

We have just returned from our 4th visit to Nerja. In the past we have stayed in the west of

the town but this time we had a property on the east and discovered the Burriana Beach area. We tried a

number of restaurants, some old favourites and some new. El Candil in the square oppostite the Balcon still maintains a high level of quality and friendlyness. Bella Roma, also in the square opposite the Balcon, produces the best pizzas outside Italy, and also provides friendly service. Our highlight of the holiday was finding Camaleon in C. Filipinas, the main road leading down to Burriana Beach. With its changing colour themes, a small but varied menu of freshly produced food catering for all tastes, including vegetarians, and attentive and friendly staff, this was a great find. Not only that but the owners mother lives 200m from our own home back in U.K.

The Korns (Easter 2006)

Me and my husband have been to Nerja a few times and its a lovely place to go . The best food place we

found was the Codfather near hotel Monica , the food is amazing the people are very nice , Terry the own

is such a nice guy he has been the best host in the whole of Spain My husband and I have been visiting Nerja since 1989 and have now got our own property we have seen many changes mostly good (The Town Hall seem to have things under control) Pepe Rico with its outside terrace and freshly prepared food and Eva looking after you its a delight. El Colonia has the best Tapas on Burrianna beach (they change daily) They also serve a varied and extensive menu loveling prepared by Sandra and served by her ever jovial husband Jose.
La Teja (next to Monica) is Spanish. Try Sopa de Marisco and the suckling Pig both served

piping hot and tasting wonderful.
El Nino a bit expensive but Bibi andher staff offer a excellant choice (Fresh fish, Leg of lamb

and fillet steaks to die for) They also have an extensive range of wines and the staff are happy

to guide you
Try H20 for a cocktails and sweet tapas. Simon and Matt even have internet connections!!! allowing you to

keep in touch with home

Hotel Plaza Cavana, Nerja
A very clean well furnished Hotel in a very good location with easy access to shops bars and beaches. Evening meals were to a very high standard, if at a leisurely pace. Rooms are above standard for 3*. Roof terrace is a delight as is indoor heated pool. The Bar was small andfriendly and leant itself to making friends. Monica stood out as a hard working and charming lady. She worked in the Restaurant and Bar and was probably expected to do more than was reasonable. My wife and I would certainly return to this Hotel. The only improvement that we could suggest would be to open the bar and have tea and coffee
facilities during the day. If you do stay here do not miss an opportunity to visit Burriana Beach

and sample the Paella and daily specials at Ayo's Beach Bar. Paella 5 Euros. A five Euro Taxi ride each way or a twenty minute walk down 116 steps and across the sand.

My wife and I recently visited a restaurant called Camaleon in the Burriana Beach area of Nerja.

The food was great. I had the best fillet steak I've had for some time whilst my wife had a

superb home made curry. The home made apple crumble was also quite special. The atmosphere was wonderful. We were there on 'red night', the restaurant actually changes colour every night

as explained by our waiter Ben. It's also a no-smoking restaurant which made a very pleasant change.

My wife even found the ladies toilet to be a very pleasant surprise with a full length

mirror, hand cream, deoderant etc available. We will certainly go back to Camaleon on our next

visit to Nerja.

Just returned from our second trip to Nerja this year. Its a beautiful place and we must give a special mention to 'Scarletti's' restaurant. I dont know how we missed this restaurant the first time we went in May, but we went there this year and it was fantastic. Beautiful decor, very friendly service, an extensive menu and wonderful food. Highly, highly recommended. We ate there 3 times and each time it just got better! Cant wait to go back to try it again!

My recommendation is slightly different in that I would like to recommend a tradesman I was introduced to Miguel Lopes Garcia a plumber Spanish who speaks English. He was an enormous

help in bringing together workman to transfer my  apartment into something I would not dream

of.  Miguel organised everything whilst we were in England including the delivery of furniture

from el cortes ingles in Malaga.  I cannot praise him and his workmen enough. If you would like

to contact him email me on valeriewood235@aol.com.

I will gladly introduce you to him

Hi, I am a regular visitor to Nerja , over the last year I have been three times, what a beautiful

tranquil wee place it is – the reason for my email is to recommend to anyone visiting Nerja to

take time out to visit Nerja’s only Scottish bar the Slante Bar , as a “regular” visitor there I

have become friendly with several residents and on arriving this time around I was immediately

told about this new bar, in fact as a Scotsman I was even recommending it to fellow countrymen before I made a visit myself ! On visiting the bar I was immediately greeted by Mark who made

me feel very comfortable sitting / drinking in there even more so when he found out it was me recommending the bar – I never made it down to there until 2/3 days in to the holiday but after that I could be found in there most days/ evenings !! I would like to congratulate them on excellent service and pleasant company throughout the remainder of my holidays – can you please ensure that the Slante bar get the recognition that it deserves!! Unfortunately I am not sure if I will be back in the near future but I wish them all the success in the world.

We regularly come to Nerja and have sampled many of its fantastic restaurants. Our favourite by

far is Rosis Bar on Calle Malaga. This is a family run bar and the staff are fantastic. The food is exceptionally good. This bar has a lovely atmosphere and is well worth a visit.

Having spent a week in Nerja (my third visit) this summer, in those visits we spent a lot of time

in different types of restaurant This year we ventured past the Balcon and discovered

'THE SHIP'. Its opposite the Monica hotel. The food is absolutely fabulous, cooked byKath using fresh local produce. Home made burgers like you have never tasted before, chicken dishes that simply

melt in your mouth, and all served with fresh veg!! No frozen foods here! Go there and sample your selves, we spent a week in Nerja and ate there four times!!!

We visited nerja for 2 weeks in july, this was our third and most enjoyable holiday in Nerja to

date.I had printed a few sheets from the restaurant review section to take with us,and

decided it could do no harm to hunt a few of these places down and give them a go.
Having holidayed in Nerja before a few of the restaurants were already familiar to us.
So we generally went for the more unfamiliar eateries on this visit.

Our favourite restaurant was without doubt Cafe New orleans, the quality of food was fantastic,

and not too expensive, the service here also deserves a special mention,it was excellent,That good that we

actually ate there twice. The ribs are highly recommended.

La biznaga Tapas just near the balcon next to the santa dominguez church was another great place, plenty of choice ,and high quality food. Be sure to call in the coach and horses pub on post office street, the staff are very friendly, you can laze at the tables and watch the world go by with a nice cold beer.

Cafe dancers down at Burriana is v.good for a lunchtime snack, Scarlettis, just up from the coach and horses deservedly gets good reviews, great food in a nice atmosphere.

There are still plenty of places for us to try so we shall head back to Nerja very soon.

We have just returned from our 5th. annual holiday in Nerja and have eaten at two new (to us) places.  First, the Nido, next to the Paris.  They have a summer terrace and it was very good, modern cooking.  Friendly staff and very relaxed, but everything as it should be.  The owner is Swedish. Sadly, it will be closed when I return to Nerja in February!  Our second new venture was to a very old established restaurant, Udo Heimer.  Expensive, but well worth a visit once in the holiday or for a special occasion.  Another good restaurant, which we have visited before is at the Almazara Hotel on the Frigliana Rd.  They have a terrace where you can watch the sun go down as you dine.  Very romantic and delicious Spanish food.  Getting away from food, the Donkey Sanctuary is well worth a visit.  It`s near the monument (Nerja sign and anchor) on

the old road from Torrox.  Make sure you take some food for the donkeys, cats and dogs

when you go!  We make the visit part of a walk along the new pavement as far as the

Marinas de Nerja hotel, then drop down the steps onto the beach and walk back all the way to the end of the promenade.  Another good walk is to Maro.  Why do people take a bus to the caves when there

is such a lovely and easy walk along the pavement?  After a drink and a sit on the Balcon de

Maro we stroll back, taking the footpath near Oasis de Capistrano which takes us back onto Burriana Beach, just in time for lunch at Ayo`s.

Having been a fan of Nerja now for some years now I decided it was time to pop in and see

Neville at Pie in the Sky to meet the man himself. How he does the website and run the Pie

shop is beyond me! The pies are fabulous especially the steak and stilton and served with real mashed potato (no chips here thankfully)
Nice to finally meet you Neville and keep up the good work with Nerja now and the pies.
Jean Chelmsford June 2005

We have just returned from our fifth consecutive holiday in Nerja, staying again at the super

Hotel Plaza Cavana - did you know they have a very good new chef !! We feel we must

recommend Sloans in Manuel Marin, their All Day Sunday Dinner is excellent, as is the Happy Hour Menu, both in quality and value for money. The Carribean Cafe gets many mentions on your lists and rightly

so.Try the combination starter platter for two;it's really something!!! At lunchtime Blue Med's bagettes, wraps and salads will taka some beating.

We are looking forward to visiting Nerja again in the not to far distant future.

John & Joan - June 2005

I would really like to recommend a fabulous restaurant/café/bar at Playa Burriana. The establishment in question is called “Restaurant Café Dancers”. The food is superb and there’s a

wide selection to choose from too - whether its just a baguette/sandwich/wrap that you want

or a delicious plate of Sausage and Mash with onion gravy. And all this washed down with a

really cold glass of beer – fab!!!!! The service is great too. I’m going back in July and I’ll

definitely be paying a few visits.
Julian
June 2005

Thanks for such a great website - it provides a fantastic introduction to newcomers to Nerja.

This was our second visit and we went to many of the restaurants in the "We recommend"

column and we really CAN recommend them -
Most nights we went to Nerja but if you are staying in San Juan de Capistrano there is a great

row of restaurants/bars just below the swimming pool, all very friendly and we particularly recommend "Adrian's Bar" on the end - fantastic Irish steaks for 2 washed down with a great Rioja - for under E25 . We will be back!
All the best
Mark and Ness May 05

Just wanted to recommend a new restaurant just opened in the previous position of restaruante Burriana, the two new owners are very welcoming and the food is superb. They do live music on Fridays and Saturdays. The rest of the week is just the hteatre of the two owners. One carving the flambe chateau-

briande and the second mixing the best cocktails in Nerja. Anyway I digress the name is 'La Parra de Burriana' situated on the road leading down to the beach. It really made our holiday and is deffiantely worth a visit.
Laurence Davey May 05

Sheng Asian restaurant in Almunecar (same street as Mc#####) fabulous food great service

and lovely ambience. We had the 15 euro per person banquet and it was delicious. Will definitely be back

to try the full menu. They also do a 4.50 euro menu del dia.

Neville March 05

Hi there, First of all we found your 'we recommend it' page really helpful on visiting Nerja this year. We

would like to endorse a few recommends ourselves. The Cafe New Orleans on C Los Huertos is one of our

favourites for excellent food and wonderful ambience, the succulent rack of ribs in sticky whisky sauce is divine and the desserts are mouth-watering. We actually found this restaurant the month it opened and we have been back each year ever since. From your recommend sheet we found The Caribbean Cafe which we will continue to visit, their Calamari starter marinated in vodka and cooked in a coconut batter with a sour orange dip is superb as is the Blackened liver and Rack of lamb. Finally from your recommend list we found Thelma's kitchen serving wonderful fragrant Goan dishes. You do need to prepare for its simplicity but Thelma and her cooking is a joy to experience. I really can't wait for our return visit to all of these wonderful places.

Pati & Ian Mosedale U.K. Feb 05

I have previously recommended the Greek taverna at El Zoco. It has ceased trading much to our dissapointment. I wouldn't want any one to have a wasted journey. Nerja De Nerja at Burriana is very good.

H20 cocktail bar/wine bar is great. The old cellar restaurant in calle Los Huertos is good.
Pauline Nov 04

I recently visited Nerja with my girlfriend Caroline and we had the best meal ever at the Caribbean Cafe. Simon Katrina and David were most hospitable and the Parrots are all so friendly, a great attraction with the kids.

We would recommend this wonderful restaurant to anyone visiting Nerja. I started with their

famous Calamari, an absolute delight and Caroline had the jerked chicken spring roll which was

also delicious.

For our main course we had the Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb and a new addition to the menu of Blackened Calves Liver. We couldn't decide which was best so we have to recommend them both.
The deserts are all home made by David we understand and all sounded absolutely delicious. We opted for the Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Brownies and shared, both were absolutely delicious

and so fresh.

A thoroughly enjoyable meal, the best we have had in Nerja. On here they have their menu, some wonderful pictures of the parrots and also list all their forthcoming special events.
We wish them all every success, a wonderful experience to be enjoyed by all the family.
 Daniel & Caroline Bushey U.K.

I met you on 24 September when I came with my wife, and son to Pie Inn the Sky. I mentioned I would like to add a recommendation to your  'We recommend' section.
I agree with your other contributors that Bella Roma, is a great place for a meal, good food and service, although it can be very busy.
We also tried The Ship, near the Rui Monica, my son ordered the garlic bread as a starter, and as advised I tried the Prawns Ageegee. My son who does not usually like food flavoured with ginger, tried the Prawns Ageegee, and the would not hand them back. I fully agree with previous recommendations for this dish.
I would like to recommend a restaurant, that I have not seen covered before, The Café New Orleans ( C Los Huertos, nearer to the Parador end ). The Combo  -  comprising Jambalaya, Southern Fried Chicken, and Louisiana Ribs was excellent and very filling. If you only fancy one of these as a main dish, try the Ribs, they are
gorgeous. For desert the homemade Cheesecake is excellent. It is also worth mentioning that this restaurant has about 10 tables, so booking a day or two before is recommended.

From you places to go, we tried Lake Vinuela, Alaucin, a great village tovisit, we then went on to Alahama de Granada and the Hot Springs.

We also visited Orgiva, Pampaneira, and Capileira, and now include a  of photo you can use if you wish.

Have you been to El Chorro Gorge, and have you been to Mini Hollywood north of Almeria?
Regards Dave Reynolds

We have been going to Nerja since 1996 and enjoy the many restaurants in and around Nerja.

Last year we tried Meson de Antonio and it has stuck in our minds ever since.  We had smoked salmon for a starter and steaks for our main course.  The steak has been the best one I have

ever tasted - cooked to perfection - the starter was excellent too and it was all very good

value.  We did try the tapas there during the day - again we were well pleased with the food

and hospitality.  We missed Nerja this year but have already booked for next year.

There is another restaurant in Torrox Village - I cannot remember the name - I call it the Garden Restaurant because it is like sitting in a garden.  It is English and Spanish owned and I think it is near what they call the Bar Stop.  Again, well worth a visit - lovely food and the owners are l

ovely and make you feel very welcome.

Popped onto A Taste of India last night (must admit its been a while) and it made me realise how good it is there. Big crisps and dips to start, chicken dansak with pilau rice and a garlic

nan brilliant.
Ole Nerja Sept 04

Having just been looking at your website, I have to agree The Codfather is a fab place to eat.

We fly across to Nerja on a regular  basis and always make sure that on every visit we take a

trip down to The Codfather. The service and food is excellent that guarantee's quality at very reasonable prices. Top this up with Terry and Mal's charm, ensures a great experience on visiting The Codfather. It is a must for all holiday goers
Mark and Steven Aug 04

We have returned from our fifth trip to Nerja.

We try new bars and restaurants each time, but always get drawn back to the Greek Taverna

We have yet to find any where that serves better food than the Greek Taverna at El Zoco. The

quality is excellent, and it is not expensive .   The Tapas are a meal in themselves They also do a take away service, as do Karen and Kim at the Bull ring Fish and Chip restaurant/ bar. which is located upstairs in the El zoco complex. Great for those that want to have night in.

Best Indian meal we have had to date was at the Shivas, though Don the Chef at the Greek Taverna does an excellent curry, he does need a days notice.
Ayo's on Burriana beach is nice for a "Spanish evening". The night we were there they had

flamenco dancers on. All the waiting staff and Ayo himself joined in. It was a really good atmosphere and very entertaining.

The Speakeasy bar does a very good breakfast. It is worth a visit in the evening too, Glenn has great taste in music.

Visit the back streets and try the Spanish bars, where the locals eat and drink and do try to

speak a little Spanish, it is appreciated and also good fun.

Pepe rico and Paco Mari, both do a very good lunchtime set menu, haven't eaten at either in the evening, but if lunch is anything to go by, I would say it would be good.
Back in Nerja in 5 weeks, will keep you posted !

Hi
We have recently spent a fortnight in beautiful Nerja, and our favourite restaurant was the Greek restaurant in El Zoco.  Superb food, we went back twice.  Also good was Over the rainbow

and of course, Ayos paella on the beach.

My wife and I have visited nerja twice a year for a number of years and were out recently in

June.  We ate at many places, but found the El Candil to have the friendliest staff and best

service.

We ate there three times andwere not disappointed on any occasion.  The menu is varied enough

to not get bored and the

value was excellent.  They have a reasonable wine list and thehouse red and white are to be recommended.  You can speak English or Spanish as the owners and the staff speak both fluently.

Hi,

We have just spent our silver wedding anniversary in Nerja and can reccomend the following

places  for good food and excellent service;

1. Meditterraneo's own in house restaurant, the Maitre D is the most attentive we have yet to come across, and the food is very good the special at E 8.50 is a steal.
2. The Marrisal in the square Carmen at the foot of the Balcon de Europa, does and excellent

platter of ham the ambience is very relaxed and if you sit outside you will see the world go by.......depending on how much you enjoy the wine possibly twice.

3. Not being one to eat in 'English' bars on holiday ['cos I am a snob and know it] I just fancied

fish and chips, and what a pleasant surprise I had in the CODFATHER fast attentive and polite service, reasonable prices and food to that excelled reasonable.

4. The Balcon De Europa restaurant good service excellent fish soup and nice bottle of Rioja, We weren't rushed and the prices were not extortionate the lamb chops were delightful.
I would also like to mention the many cafe's we spent having lunch as they too went towrds

making our stay so relaxing.

Whilst we do not know the names of all those that went to make a stay in Nerja so pleasant there were so many of you we would like to thank you one and all. We will definately revisit.

We recently stayed in Nerja had a great time found some very good tips on your website,

especially Thelma's Kitchen being avid Indian food eaters we did not now what to expect but hey what a treat the food can be very different for what we get in the UK Thelma cooks Goan style.

the food is joy to the palette and if you are lucky she might have her homemade Kofe left its to

die for,we left there fully content and felt as if we had known Thelma and Bill for a long time

don't think everything is hot because it's not a must for all.

We have been visiting nerja twice a year since we first found the place a few years ago and have just returned from 7 day break in April. We still find the place totally relaxing and never tire of seeking out new places to eat and drink amongst the many restaurants and bars from which to choose.
One of our particular favourites is the Bar Okey in the Town, where you are assured of a friendly and warm welcome by Steve and Audrey. Excellent food and house wine at reasonable prices especially the desserts (the home made Rice and Bread and Butter Puddings being our favs.)
Other favourites of ours include:
Best atmosphere - Redondo Tapas Bar. Just watch the world go by while having a Tapas and

beer.
Best Paella - Got to be Ayo,s on Burriana Beach. Sunday the best day if you can get a table.!

Very popular with the locals.
Best Breakfast - Cafe Del Mar, Burriana Beach. The Sportsman at El Zoco (near Super Sol) a

close second. Got to give Craig a mention.
Best Posh Nosh - Restaurante 34 (Hotel Carabeo). A must for that special treat.
We are back there again in August. Can't come quick enough.
 Terry & Tracey, Manchester 10 May 2004.

We recently came back from a holiday in Capistrano Oasis. The restaurant there called ‘Exotica’

was superb. A French restaurant with friendly staff. There was also an option to order ready

made meals which would make life very easy if you chose not to go out in the evening. We can’t wait to go back again.

We have just come back from out first visit to Nerja and found the whole town beautiful.

We found the best place for a great welcome and a superb English breakfast was the Sportsman Bar, just up from the Supersol.  In the same complex was the Greek Treverna which has already been mentioned, great Garlic Prawns!!  The finest restaurant that we stumbled across was the Terraza La Parra in San Juan de Capistrano, the food was so fantastic we visited it twice in a week.  Although this restaurant is a bit out of town, the bus does stop directly outside.  I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough for the fabulous food and impeccable service.  I would also recommend booking for the conservatory area which gets booked up even out of season.

We will definitely be revisiting Nerja.

hello,   we've just returned from your nice little town and I see you like to hear what was good.  well the best food and service we found was in the Rendezvous at the top of calle malaga,

tucked away in the corner!!   glad we found them , Sarah and partner, lovely people, and a

splendid menu to suit all tastes.  cheers for now ,

We've been visiting Nerja every year for the past eight years and have tried a number of restaurants. Maybe we are creatures of habit but we always enjoy a paella on Sunday afternoon down at Burriana Beach where they
cook the food in huge pans over a wood fire. This year was no exception but we had also heard about the Codfather so decided to give it a try later in the week, although we usually try to "go native" and stick to Spanish fair. How pleased we are that we tried this relatively new eatery.

The cod and chips was as good as anything we can get at home (and home is Lancashire, renowned for its chippies). Marilyn and Terry are wonderful hosts who make everyone welcome.

I would recommend the Codfather to anyone - it's an offer
you can't refuse.
Regards Peter Butterfield Apr 04

We recently spent a weekend at our apartment in Nerja and were delighted to discover that Chicken Nick's is now an Indian restaurant. The food was excellent , prepared by Indian chefs ,

and the house red was great value and equal in quality to that of El Candil ( which we use as

our "house red " standard).
It was good to see a more international style cuisine in this area of town which had  rather too many British restaurants for our taste.
Pamela and Joe Parsonage , Sale   Feb 2004

Hello We have just got back (Feb 2004 ) from a great week in Nerja.

On the 5th day we found a fabulous restaurant which we visted on the 6th and 7th day too !
The food and atmosphere were fantastic, it is also the only greek restaurant in Nerja, which

made a nice change. If you were to go up the main road that leads you away from Burriana

beach, turn right at the top, towards Supersol. It is near the football stadium. Greek Taverna ,

at El Zoco De Nerja.

It is fairly small, so we would recomend you book in busy season, though they do have a few

tables outside.

Spent Christmas in Spain Nerja.
Wonderful experience, but what made it most memorable was "The Ship."
Hospitality, fun and food just the bomb, wonderful from the Pint to the Pill Pill and the company

of the owners        Katherine and Rob is what the difference.
Attention to your wants and wantnots  .
Thanks Again Katherine and Rob for making Christmas 2003 so memorable and we will be back

soon for more of the great food. We just loved every morsel and the best of all no Spanish tummy the next day. Thanks Katherine you are a wonderful Chef and Rob a wonderful Host.

Ola from Scotland

Recently returned from Nerja, we spent many happy hours - also sad hours when Celtic lost as

did Scotland - at, "The Ship," but have lost Krystal's address.  Can you help please?

Doing Christmas cards now, as we must admit.......the post is very manyana?  As our cards have now reached Gretna, some four weeks after they were posted......!!

Please pass on our thanks and love to everyone at, "The Ship," Kath, Rob, Krystal and, "Les Boys," Lewis and Tony. We stayed at the, "Perla Marina," and I managed to put on seven pounds in a

week and I guess we all know why,  food was super and their scrambled eggs and bacon was superb!

Tell Kath when we return, we will be looking for a meal and the Prawns Ageegee to start will do

very nicely.......!

We returned to Nerja this year in July after a gap of a couple of years and were delighted to find that Casa Roberta is still in existence. Casa Roberta is a family run restaurant situated just up the hill from the Balcon (on the same street as Miguel's).  The service and the food are second to none and we would highly recommend that you pay them a visit.

If you want something different try The New Orleans Edif Coronado Calle Los Huertos, for

wonderful food, great atmosphere and friendly service offered by Steve and Brandon. The New Orleans offers great food and good value for money. Try it you won't be disappointed.

Having just returned from a long working holiday in sunny Nerja to wet n windy England my wife Alison and I
are already missing the sights, sounds and smells of a wonderful little town. We socialised and sampled the delights in many of Nerjas finest bars and restaurants but it has to be said that we regretably and unintentionally saved the best till last. "The Ship" opposite the Hotel Monica

became a  regular drinking establishment for us
soon after Rob and Kath opened its doors in June of this year and for a drink alone it's a great

place to be, but
the food really is the icing onthe cake. Very reasonably priced and cleverly crafted by Kath the dishes are filling and mouthwatering. Check out the "Prawns agee-gee" on the starters menu. A wicked new take on the the old favourite "Pil Pil prawns" with ginger and butter being the

dominant ingredients, delicious! I enjoyed the biggest and best homemade burger on the coast

for my main meal (served with chunky real potato chips) and Alison devoured the stuffed

peppers. Thank you to all at the ship and a massive hello to anyone who remembers us!

See you next year Nerja!!

As frequent visitors to Nerja , owning a property near the Rio Chillar , we are surprised that

nobody has
recommended La Biznaga at Nerja Medina. This is a very friendly, family run restaurant which

serves generous
helpings of locally produced food. The menu del dia is exceptional value for ? 7.50.
Another place for large helpings of local food is Meson Vicente on calle Malaga.

Just returned from Nerja (27th September). We stayed in the village and as Henley's has closed

we checked around for another eatery. We found 'Langhams' in C/ Los Huertos (952 52 2007). Fantastic restaurant, excellent food, service and atmosphere. Its not large so its best to book in advance. We went there three times during our holiday and could not fault the service, friendliness and quality of food.

Just got home from Nerja (sept 03) & would highly recommend Langhams (cal. huertos- same

street as sinatras bar) A fantastic steak also beef wellington or chicken stuffed with stilton and baked in puff pastry. The sherry trifle is stunning, a friendly welcome from all the staff a great find.Booking was a must, loads turned away every night  Also the carribean bar not far away.

We visited Nerja in April 2003 and stayed on the Playa el Playazo.  Towards the end of our holiday we stopped off at the Chiringuito Mauri
Bar/Restaurant for a drink late in the afternoon.  The welcome and service were superb and we noticed that the food looked good.  So back we went that night and on two more occasions to enjoy beautifully cooked fish dishes, meat balls, paella etc. We were able to watch our fish being cooked on the BBQ!  We even saw our host pick the lettuce needed to make the salad we had ordered!  Not only was the food delicious , it was also good value!  This restaurant is situated

right on the beach a couple of hundred metres from our aparthotel towards the centre of town.
We'll definitely be going there again on our next trip to Nerja!

Hi -
My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon in Spain.  We spent about a week in Nerja

and absolutely loved it.  We visited several of the restaurants listed on this nerjanow.com and found them all to be super restaurants......
Our favorite was Bella Roma, where we ate twice.  Not only were the food and wine excellent,

but the staff was very friendly and thoughtful.  If you go there, definitely try the tiramisu, which was incredible.
Second, don't miss the Codfather, where my husband tried mushy peas for the first time.

The fish and chips were better than any we've found in
Boston, Mass.  The fish was very fresh and it was one of our favorite meals.
Finally, we would also recommend Henleys, which was outstanding.  I had the vegetarian

sausage, which was quite tasty and my husband had
another sausage which he devoured in minutes.
During our visit, we stayed at the RIU Monica Hotel, which was such a great place. The staff

were friendly and helpful without being overbearing.  It was a great place to enjoy our

honeymoon!
We had a fabulous time in Nerja and hope our future travels bring us back.
Mandy and Toby - July 2003

For a change we can recommend some places before we'll go to Nerja, because we'll be there

next week.

We don't have to say anymore about Proud Scout, you read it in a former message, but we will

tell about ESQUINA PAULINA in the calle christo, just around the corner, where it goes to the left

(if you make your wau from the Balcony). Paulina and Loek are always very friendly, they come

from a little town in the south of Holland near Maastricht. The town is called Sittard and Loek played there in a very famous local - loca - funband. Though he is a fan of the Ajax team from Amsterdam, he is a friendly chap. Loek and Pauline speak their languages: the local dialect of Sittard, Dutch, English, German, Spanish and a little bit of French. And if you want te spoken

to in your own Scottish dialect Loek can manage that as well.

But the most important: they have nice drinks (very good wines) and the food is very ,very

good. Most of it are like tapas with different kinds of cheese en - of course - Serrano. But if

you want it you also can have a real Dutch herring and that's very fresh in the hot Spanish

nights. So if you want a relaxing kind of tapasbar: go and find Esquina Paulina. And you'll find a different world with a lot of estrangeros, who stay in Nerja, some locals and some tourists.

Another favorite of us is the Papagayo Beach (fishsoup)and the nice restaurant Pepe Rico.

For real people's fishfood we go to the mariscos: very simple and cheap. Nothing special,

but really good, just like the Spanish grandmotherused to cook.

Well, that's it for today. Maybe after our visit we'll report some other things we' ve experienced.

We have just spent a wonderful week in Nerja and would like to recommend a family who made

our stay exceptionally enjoyable. We first met Dave at Club Nautique (Castilla Perez nr Supersol) whom we rented bicycles from and took the family scuba diving. We must say that he installed

alot of confidence in my youngest son who now wants to take up scuba diving full time!!! The

next member of the family we met was his sister who took us all horseriding through the gorge which was a most beautiful setting and we would recommend to anyone. Last but not least

we had a very enjoyable last evening meal in his daughters restaurant The Caribbean Cafe

if only we had found it sooner we would have gone back to try the rest of the menu!! The

food was divine and to top it off they have 4 very friendly parrots whom we were allowed to hold and feed. These people made our stay in Nerja one of the best holidays we have ever had!

The Harrison Family. jul 03

p.s they have the best calamari on the costa de sol.  Must try!

Just back from nerja this morning and had to put up a recommendation for Proud Scout - Indian Craft. c/el barrio, 37-29780-nerja tlf.fax:952525954 To find it :- Head behind the church from the balcon, through the square and down to your left along El Barrio You cant miss it , on your left. . What a shop this tear, even more stuff in it than you can imagine. All that turquoise and silver jewelry. The owners Jackie and Theo will be more than willing to help you. Theo makes the most wonderful belts all hand made to your own personal taste, from the very plain to extraordinary, inlaid with turquoise, bones and conchos. They still have a large collection of other indian items, rugs, sand paintings, ironwood carvings, dreamcatchers, the list can go on and on and Jackie will help you there. They also have a limited supply of Indian jewelry made by the late Darin Bill, Just ask to see some of his work. There is no hard sell in this shop and it is a pleasure just having

a look about. A great shop to find presents to take home, when you have done all that you

can also play with there 2 dogs Micky and Max . They like low fat smackos.
Neil & Arthur Glenmavis, Airdrie, Scotland July 17 2003

We recently spent a week in Nerja and ate out every night.  Restaurant 34 in the Hotel Carabeo was wonderful, if somewhat more expensive than the other places we tried.  The restaurant

was really pretty, and if you are feeling romantic there are a few tables for 2, set slightly back

from the other seating areas, which are along side the small swimming pool and are very private.  Ate twice at El Candil which was good too, especially as the restaurant has airconditiong

(not too cold!) and was very refreshing after a day in the sun.  Cafe del Mar on Burriana

Beach is great place for food and drink, the owners Richard and John, and the rest of the staff make you feel really welcome and are good fun.  Enjoyed Nerja so much have booked to

return the end of September so will probably return to these restaurants again.

Lee and Derek, Bracknell July 2003

My wife and I (along with various friends and acquaintances) have eaten at The Codfather regularly, and each time the quality (and quantity) has been equal to our first visit.

For several weeks we have not been able to make further visits. The Codfather was closed for a time to have a new frying range imported and installed from England. We then moved house and also returned to England for a short holiday. So to cure the withdrawal symptoms we went this evening (Friday June 20th), along with willing accomplices Joan and Mike Checkley.

The only comment I can make is if you haven’t been, you haven’t lived. This must most definitely still be the BEST Fish & Chips south of Lancashire.

To complete the meal, there is a special offer at the moment of Coffee and Brandy for €1.75 – Perfect !!

If you live in Nerja or are coming here on holiday, give The Codfather a try you will not be disapointed.

Jeff & Fran Peacock.

Just returned from Nerja had a wonderful holiday and ate at Bella Pasta three times during our

two week stay lovely staff, nice surroundings, spotlessly clean, and best of all food superb and

very good value. Also Miramar at Burriana Beach and Joannys.

We have just returned from a very enjoyable holiday in Nerja. and would like to congratulate

you on your very useful guide.(It was our first visit but I hasten to add not our last) We tried several of the restaurants in your guide and enjoyed most of them very much (with only one exception which I will not name) The one that we would highly recommend was one called

HENLEY'S we had tried to find them early in our holiday at the address you have listed but found that the had closed down. so we tried others Then on a stroll round the town we found them

they told us they had just located to new premises We tried them that night and I have got

to say that the food was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS in taste and STUNNING in Presentation .

Their logo is experience the experience and we are so pleased that we did The other thing we noticed although we don't have children of our own was that the staff were very attentive to the children on another table and supplied them with crayons with which to draw on the tablecloths which was good for other diners we thought as it kept the children occupied until their dinner arrived.

We wish we had found them sooner but we managed to have our last two meals there and I have no doubt at all that they will still be there when we visit again. Please put this letter on your

site as it would be a real shame for anyone to miss a meal at this establishment We didn't find anywhere better.

Kind Regards Dave & Sarah London

We have been to Nerja several times before some years ago and have just been back there

after 7 years so a few changes! We stayed at Punta Lara about 1 mile from town. We would

like to recommend the Rendevous Bistro Restaurant. Good friendly service and good food

(and lots of it). A good varied menu and as vegetarians their veggie choices were a god-send

with 9 options to choose from! Also we visited Henleys at their new premises - very nice.

Good service and wonderful food - the Seville Pancake dessert was to die for! Also gave our

5 year old a little auto scan radio with Henleys on it - very cool! Also good for a cheaper meal

is La Barca on Burriana Beach. Good service and food and good if you have kids as there is a little play area opposite where you can keep your eye on them! We will be returning to Nerja soon and we will definately be visiting these 3 restaurants. Cant wait to get back.

We have just eaten for the first time at Thelma's Kitchen at El Zoco near the Capistrano

Supersol.
It is the best Indian meal we have ever had.  Each dish is hand cooked in full view of the restaurant.  The food is excellent and very different from
anything you will have ever seen or tasted before, even the boiled rice tastes amazing.

The menu on first viewing may look small and you may not
think you will like anything but it is so worth giving it a try.  Not only is the food excellent but

the service is to -  It is like eating fabulous
food at a friend's house.  Take a risk and give it a try - you would be mad not to - you don't

know what you are missing.
Pam & Phil Nerja May 2003

I have recently returned from a very enjoyable stay in Nerja.   I have been to Nerja on many occasions and always include a visit to Pepe Rico (Calle Pintada, very close to the Balcon de Europa).   I am puzzled as to why this is never featured.   The Menu of the Day is 9 Euros and includes a very drinkable glass of wine or beer, bread, starter, main course and sweet.  There

is a very pretty Andalusian style patio at the back of the main
restaurant and the waiter himself is very good looking !!   It is run by a Swedish family and well worth a visit - you will not be disappointed.
J P Herbert - Bucks May 2003

We have recently visited beautiful Nerja and spent hours at the Hacienda Lounge which is near

to a hotel called Rui (we think). It is to the western side of the town and near to where the

market sets up on Tuesdays. The food was fab - wraps & dips and gorgeous nuts set out on the tables. The shots at the bar were equally good, the bounty bar flavour had us rushing for more. There is a garden too and it is a great 'chill out' bar.

Karen & Nick, Gloucestershire May 2003

We highly recommend the Bar Okey, Steve and Audrey are very good hosts and the food is wonderful we have had an apartment in Nerja for four years and always have a good Irish

welcome.
Chris & Ange May 2003

My wife and I have just returned from a very enjoyable week in Nerja. Before we left home, I printed out your "we recommend" pages for where to eat out in Nerja. We tried to go to Henley's but found that it had closed down, but of all of the places that we ate in, by far the best was Scarletti's. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, offering a very high standard of service, while the decor was fresh and appealing after a hard day out in the spring sunshine. The menu offered a wide variety to suit all tastes, with food being freshly cooked to order and served

with a smile. The House Red was also worthy of  mention, being very pleasant and reasonably priced. Overall, we were very impressed and to quote my wife, " I would go back to Nerja if it

was only to eat in Scarletti's" - a true tribute from someone who is a wonderful cook herself.

Restaurant ROMÁNTICA:
This is the must, at least for us because now it became our favorite place. We found this

wonderful restaurant during one of our many visits to(pueblo blanco)Frigiliana.  We sat down

on their beautiful roofterrace and whilst watching the sun setting down over the mountains we enjoyed the most fantastic meal with superb wines from small, private bodegas,if you are tired of Faustino like we are. Original and creative dishes and the best part is that everything is freshly prepared for you.We had a lovely evening with all that you could wish for in a restaurant.
What more can We say exept try it yourself it´s SO SO  GOOD.
Katrin and Thomas

Ayo's has to be visited when in Nerja.  We always visit this "restaurant" when there. Ayo is a perfect host!  Always pleased to have a photo taken with anyone next to his Giant paella!  The prices are great, the ambiance and food perfect.  Everyone connected with this place is always willing to try and please their customers.  He even replies to your emails!  A must to visit.
Regards Ron & Wendy Jan 2003

Nerja de Nerja on the Playa de Burrianna is an excellent no frills restaurant where the food (especially my favourite, the brochetta burriana - quite spicy) is excellent. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.  We have visited this cafe several times on different visits and are

always keen to return.

Henleys: We recently had a holiday in Nerja and ate twice at this excellent establishment

Very Good Food! Nice professional service and good value.

Dear Nerjanow,
I have just returned from a wonderful week in Nerja. I had happy memories of a family holiday

there in 1987, and although there have been many changes in that time, I was not disappointed. Thanks to your web site I had some information which proved very useful while I was there,

and I would just like to add a few personal recommendations.
The restaurant La Teja was described by a 20 year resident of the town as being possibly the best restaurant in town, and I could believe this now. It has been open only 6 months, I understand, and apart from the excellent style and service has the best steak that I have ever

had. Try their rib eye steak - you will not need much else with it! The restaurant Don Juan

( both of these are adjacent to the Riu Monica ) was a really great experience. Lovely food and excellent service. Finally, I stayed at the Hotel Perla Marina where I had an excellent room with a terrific

sea view & the quality of service and facilities were very good. It will not be long before I return.
With best wishes, Ian Warlow. Redditch, England. Nov 2002

We found "La Venta de Frigiliana" on one of our outings in the hills on the road between

Frigiliana & Torrox. On their terrace with fantastic views we had the most superb salad with vegetables &fruits from their own garden.
Must be one of the best viewpoints in the area and the food was excellent & good value for

money.
Next time we will enjoy an evening meal and see the sunset with live Andalucian music (without loudspeakers Mr Juan promised
Rosalind & Erling Olsen, Kolbotn, Norway Oct 2002

We found the cafe del Mar on Burriana Beach. It is very prettily decorated to look like a typical courtyard with lots of plants and 2 water features. The atmosphere is wonderful and the 2 hosts, Richard and John, make the cafe a very friendly place to be. The cocktails knock yer socks off

and their home cooked meals are sure to fill you up. We saw many people making return dinner dates while we were there.
The music isn't too loud and there's no telly to distract you from the great beach view and the people watching.
Go and visit Cafe del Mar and makes new friends with the guys - they reallyare good fun.

Alan Barham  London

Dear Nerjanow, we found your website while we were planning our first trip to Nerja and found it extremely useful during our visit. One featured restaurant in particular was "El Torresol" We

had the most superb meals there and the service was attentive & friendly, personally I would

advise anyone to try the Honey roasted duckling, although my husband raved about the

Thai green curry!
A first class experience! thank you Nerjanow.
Jean & Brian Cant, Richmond

Our recommendation has got to be HENLEYS (on the same street as the post office) Superb

food, Friendly and very helpful staff, Magnificent choice of dishes, (must be the most interesting

menu in Nerja) What more can I say except try it for yourself. Well done, see you again in December.
Many thanks
George and Audrey

Can I recommend Horse Riding run by Jean from Buckinghamshire (?) Contact through Club

Nautique. Avda. Castilla Perez No 2 (near Supersol). e-mail divenerja@hotmail.com. Cost 21E

for an hour. Lovely Andalucian horses. We just walked along a track as it was crowded on the beach but I think they do go on the beach and have a faster ride.

best wishes Katrina

We have just returned from Nerja after 2 weeks rest and relaxation. We looked up a few of the restaurants recommended on your web site. The Elcandil was excellent, with friendly staff and a great place to people watch, it does get very busy so go early or late. We also visited the chinese restaurant Pato Cantones twice, it is excellent value for money and the staff are f

antastic, they cannot do enough for you. My son was given a bracelet and they explained the meaning of it to him, he was very pleased.

Bar La Cueva  I would like to recommend Bar La Cueva in El Capistrano Village. I have been

going there for years and met my Spanish partner in there 5 years ago !
It is a traditional cave set low in the ground with Spanish staff and Spanish atmosphere.

Definitely the best bar in Nerja, probably the best bar I have ever been in !

Dont be fooled by the male bar staff though !!! They have a different girl every week !
Anthony Asherwood - August 2002

Don Juan: Derek and I have just returned from Nerja (reluctantly )  We were recommended to

eat at the restaurant Don Juan, it is situated opposite the Monica Hotel. It is run by an English l

ady called Jackie and her Spanish husband Juan. The first time we had the set menu, it was fabulous at just 8-75 euros. Food all freshly prepared and piping hot. Second time Derek had the spare ribs as a starter, they were to die for, huge and very meaty. Then he had the peppered steak, he says it was the best he's ever had,  (and he's had quite a few )  I had hake in prawn sauce, it was cooked to perfection. Jackie and Juan are really friendly, Juan always comes out to say hello and talk to you. We have booked a meal there on New Years Eve, just before we go

down to the Balcon. On Sunday the 11th august they were being filmed for a holiday programme called Getaway, we hope it went well for them.

Samba After sampling 10 different eating places during our 13 night stay in Nerja, we found the Samba to be the finest and most welcoming. Excellent value for money, with a superb menu and

a house Rioja to die for.

Samba Brasserie Christine and I vistited the Samba on our last night in Nerja and it was certainly the hightlight of
our holiday on the cuisine front. The food was excellent and the wine was superb with plenty of choice.
The service was first class in a restaurant that has only been opened a few months, we would recommend it to anyone.

Proud Scout :- Run by Jackie & Tao the dutch couple we met in paulina's. Original american indian designer jewlery.
a shop you could spend all day in and want to buy everything. you even fall in love with there

two dogs, as long as you bring some smackos from the pet shop. Have a look for yourselves.

EsquinaPaulina :- Run by Luke and Paulina a dutch couple. What a place!!! Great wine and brandy, and if you ask nicely
they will get what ever you want if they do not have it. Especially Schnaps. The people you

get to know in there come from all over, scotland (the wilsdons), germany (hans), holand

(Jackie & Tao) etc.

Ayo's on Burriana beach  A must is to have lunch at the "best" paella place on The Costa del

Sol - Ayo's on Burriana beach.
Just to watch Ayo making his giant paellas is awesome.  Many times he has appeared in TV

travel programmes.  It's just great!

Miguel Angel This restaurant is based at Burriana Beach. The service was excellent and the

food out of this world. The wine list is extensive. For anyone daring try the ostrich or

Andalucian snails, but unusual but not to be missed. The also serve the best English/Continental breakfast in the area.

In all an excellent dining experience with very pleasant surroundings.
