Entertainment in Nerja in August
During August there is live entertainment every night in Plaza de los Cangrejos from 10pm. The Cultural centre has produced a programme of events but sadly it just gives the name of the performers so in some cases it is very hard to work out what is actually happening, but here are a couple of “translatable” examples: 8th Violin duo, 9th: Cinema: Amerrika, 11th: A dance acadamy, 14th Theatre, 17th Jazz, 31st: Jazz quintet.
A change of ownership at Maui on Tutti Frutti and also a refreshing look at prices, no two for one offers here just normal bar prices and a bit of background music inside the bar with a comfortable terrace to people watch from, well done to Luke and good luck.
Do you miss UK shopping?
While most British expats enjoy living the Spanish way there is no doubt an awful lot of people do miss the massive choice available in UK supermarkets like Asda and Sainsbury’s and such (not to mention the price advantage!)
Now you can order online from some of your favourite supermarketsand have your order delivered here in Nerja.
Supermarket deliveries to Spain is offering such a service for non perishable goods.

More “less” parking
Well summer is really upon us and the beaches are fairly busy and mobbed at weekends but parking to the west of town is an absolute nightmare with the further loss of around 70 or 80 places to the rear of Av Mediterraneo. See earlier post With the earlier loss of more than 200 spaces it has become a joke. The townhall seem intent on ruining the town for tourists and I dion’t just mean “foreigners”. Lots of Spaniards come to Nerja, but will they be put off by the fact that they will have to spend money on car parking (18.50 for a full 24 hours in the Verano Azul underground car park), which means less money to spend in bars and cafes and restaurants.
To the east of town Burriana has always been a nightmare to park and now the same applies to the east.
The Nerja mayorial elections are next year and I would love any prospective candidates to send me their manifestos (the current encumbent is welcome as well)

Spain….World champions!
What a result!
I am not a footie fan but this was one game I wasn’t going to miss. We were in Tutti Fruttis square and the atmosphere was brilliant, Mexican waves, horns, drums and trumpets and that was just during the game. When Spain scored the winning goal the place just went bonkers, and at the final whistle there were fireworks explosions and people setting flares off…………magic and I bet I am not the only one with a slightly bad head today!

Spain, Nerja and the wind
A great result in the W.C (hic) last night and Nerja along with the rest of spain went bonkers at full time! Followed by a night of celebrations and gale force winds. Today is a bit grey and still very windy which is a bit of a surprise for July.
A walk around nerja yesterday in the baking sun:
Things this weekend
Two good reasons to visit The Boatyard bar this weekend: Friday night has Chicago Jim & Alice, a unique semi accoustic take on soul, blues and rock. Also on Saturday evening the re-scheduled Variety for Charity 70′s themed charity night to raise money for the local Nerja Charity Talle de Amistad. (The show is dedicated to Julie). All your favourite 70′s songs, some comedy and sketches all performed by staff and friends of The Boatyard. 70′s fancy dress optional but be prepared to have a good laugh for a good cause.
