Frigiliana

Frigiliana is just seven kilometers inland from Nerja and probably one of the prettiest white villages in the Costa del sol, Frigiliana retains a lot of the character and charm of life here many years ago. Despite a fairly massive building programme that looks like it might spoil the village, once you get into the heart of the village that is soon forgotten.
Winding and steep cobbled streets with whitewashed houses jammed together, the people here seem to take a lot of care and pride in where they live, with the ladies mopping the street outside there homes everyday and litter seems not to exist here.
Hanging baskets and plants in pots and tumbling from terraces make it a great place for photographs. There are bars and restaurants hidden away around corners and at the top of steep hills. One of the prettiest streets is just behind the church.
Frigiliana is a very old village with lots of history, the Arabs made soap here, the Romans came and went, honey was famous from here and the local wine is very important and very potent.

  1. My group of 10 ladies will be renting a villa in Frigiliana in april 2012. We all love knitting, weaving, felting, rug hooking and all natural fiber crafts. We are hoping to meet local women with similar interests, and possibly to learn of shops, classes, fiber art studios??? Sadly, we only speak English, but would LOVE to connect with fellow fiber artists.
