Lake Vinuela

Lake Vinuela is inland from Torre del Mar and Velez Malaga, and is only a 30 minute drive from the coast of Nerja, and is well signed posted  from Velez Malaga.  The Lake is man-made  of considerable size and beauty and supplies drinking water for a large part of the coast,  on a clear day the colour of the sky is reflected on the water,  making a very blue sometimes green lake nestled amongst the sweeping green hills and mountains.
You can drive nearly all the way round the lake and there are many view points to stop at for those memorable photographs.  To the East side of the lake (behind the Hotel Vinuela) there is a large BBQ picnic  area  with rock built BBQ’s  and water supply over looking the lake offering families an ideal place to relax and eat.  Don’t forget  to pack trainers,  bats and balls.  There is, also a small mini  crazy golf course  (equipment is not supplied) for the children so pack clubs, walking sticks etc.,  You need to come well prepared with plenty to eat and drink (also BBQ charcoal, firelighters, wood) there are no commercial facilities for eating and drinking.
We had a very enjoyable day and although it was late October the sun was very warm and the food rather well done thanks to a cricket playing chef.
We were probably not in the right place for cricket, cos we were really wacking the ball and our Spanish neighbours were not too impressed!
