Comares

Another day and the weather did not look promising and my planned trip to Almeria looked highly unlikely, but where to go?
I headed towards Malaga with maybe an intention to find the 'waterfalls behind Malaga' but when I saw the turn off for Velez Malaga I remembered I had visited Comares three years earlier but without a camera, so off I went.

Follow the road past Velez until you see the left turn at Restaurante El Cruce that is signposted Benamargosa and Comares, Cutar.
The road to Benamargosa is pretty bumpy with lots of pot holes so some care is needed

Straight through Benamargosa and keep on the same road until the left turn signed Comares.

This is one of the most scenic roads here in Andalucia and while there are not too many places to stop, if you use some common sense there are places to park safely for you and other road users. The road just seems to climb and climb and climb. The road into Comares is a dead end and there are signs for parking just before the village itself. The children's playground must have the best views of any!
