La Herradura

Just a short drive along the coast East from Nerja, and on the way there are some nice beaches and coves that are
worth a visit, but be aware that some of the roads down to the beaches are only tracks and can be quite bumpy.
One such nice beach is Playa Alberquilla that has a grassy area to park and is in a sheltered bay. There are not really any facilities, so bring a picnic or your barbecue. There is a beach bar that looks like it may open for the Summer.
We stopped on the way to get some petrol and like most people I put a set amount (in money) in when I fill up, and guess what the petrol pumps are now in Euro's... oops suddenly my 3,000 pesetas worth of petrol is err
A quick think and I plumped for 12 Euro's which turned out to be 1996 pesetas.
The Euro is here!! and I think I need to carry my Euro to Pesetas converter with me!

La Herradura itself is also in a bay (Herradura means horseshoe) and the beach is a mixture of sand and pebbles and
there are many bars and restaurants all along the sea front and on the beach that are open most of the year.
We visited on December 2nd and although not terribly busy, by 2.30pm the restaurant we were in was nearly full!
A great place to go for lunch or even just a stroll along the sea front and a coffee.

La Parilla to the west of the bay is a fabulous restauarant!
