Been coming to Nerja for over 15 years now and our favourite tapas bar is Dolores (El Chispa). Great atmosphere frequented mainly by locals and fantastic tapas (free) and food. A real family run establishment – nothing fancy just down to earth Spanish. At the other end of the scale we always treat ourselves at least once per holiday to a meal at Udo Heimers – absolute class.

Joanni snack bar is excellent for food the service is excellent the prices are some of the cheapest in Nerja around 20 tables outside the Ovivida plaza. It is run by a Spanish couple and their family for the past 20 years and is spotlessly clean.

I have been to La Casa hotel in Torrox Village on a few occasions it has a beautiful setting for summer months sat out on the terrace, and a cosy dining room for winter. All the food is home cooked and really lovely. Some where a bit different to go for a meal or sunday lunch.

Can i say that i have been visiting Nerja for four years now and on a recent xmas break, myself and a few friends visited the new “lounge bar chique” calle chappril, nerja…it was “fantastic” warm, friendly, modern and with a decent wine selection.(hard to find that in nerja)…lol.. its well worth a visit if you want wine bar surroundings/sofas/nice background music without the hords and mases…WELL DONE “BAR CHIQUE” !!!!keep up the good work..

Our first time to Nerja in early Nov, we usually holiday up past Alicante, and we visited Sevillano tapas and restaurant place near the Monica and couldn’t believe the choice of free tapas there. We sat at the bar for an hour and had to refuse the offer of yet more food with our drinks! The was a Flamenco show on in a bar across the road so we finished our evening there. We will definately be back to nerja next year!

Miguel who used to run Cafeteria Cavana 5 now has a tapas bar La Taberna del Pescador C.Cristo. Excellent tapas and an interesting clientele. His old place is now run as a pizzeria by an Italian couple Raimundo and Carmen . huge yummy pizzas !!!(They will be closed for November !) Then of course there are our usual favourites, Made in Itali, the Curry House and La Sardina Allegre. See you at New Year if not before

Hey, we visited Nerja three weeks ago it was new to us but we strolled into a bar on the first day and never left, the staff Liz, Jan and of course Annie were brilliant to us they told us how to get everywhere and even fed us at half one in the morning. The locals there as well were really friendly and we didn’t want to go home. Aside from that the drink was cheaper but in my case that wasn’t so good but that’s a different story.

Would just like to say that we were delighted to discover that Miguel (used to have one of the best restaurants in town) has recently opened his new restaurant ‘Plaza del Olvido Restaurante’. It is situated in a quiet little square (Plaza del Olvido) on Calle Frigiliana – the food as always is fantastic with a great choice of wines and excellent waiter service, Miguel being the perfect host.
Big up to the boys & girls at Bakers Bar on Burriana Beach for making our visit to Nerja all that more memorable.
Good food, great friendly service and altogether our best nights out.
Hello to Susy and Bradley (Big Spurs Fans) who told us about the bar. Hopefully w'ell meet you
there one day once you get your passport sorted out.
Well played everyone !

I would definitely recommend an English speaking Architect who managed the construction of our new house - really professional, reliable, and listened to what we really wanted. They are called Arqmed 0034 647 745 711 Jean & Dirk Sep 09
I spent 6 weeks in Nerja during July and August and spent many evenings eating in "La Taberna" on C/Almirante Fernandiz,
probably the best food with the friendliest people in Nerja. I'll be back in November to see Manola and all at the bar.
Go there speak a bit of Spanish don't be British and ask for tomato ketchup but go with their recommendations.
You won't be disappointed.

Have just come back from my first visit to Nerja and was not disappointed, will definitely be going again.
Would like to recommend the Codfather which serves excellent fish and chips. Great service and delicious food, A+.

Hi I would like to say a massive "Thank You" to Noel and Geraldine and all the staff at The Dubliner (Plaza Tutti Frutti). I organised a birthday party for my mum Lillian there recently and they made sure it was an evening to remember. From the entertainment to the decoration (it looked absolutely gorgeous!!) and ensuring everyone had a great time, I cannot thank them enough. My mum had an absolute ball and so did everyone else if all the dancing was anything to go by! My mum would also like to say a massive thank you to everyone for their lovely cards and prezzies xxx

I've just been reading the recommendations, and also as one of Nerja's regular visitors, we like to have at least one meal at El Candil - didn't realise that it was under new management, coming out again for 10 days in September and hope to visit at least once, as others mentioned, service and food always really good! My sister just returned home last Friday (24 July) and they thought Nerja was a lot quieter for the time of the year - they always go out in July or August - how did others find Nerja this year? Must be a mixture of things, credit crunch and all that! Anne Craig Aug 09
Having been a visitor to Nerja for the past 20years we made the decision to leavethe UK behind and live here permantely
no regrets! One of our favorite restaurants is The Restaurant at Burrianna a bistro type menu that changes every
10/14days the quality is excellent and the service and staff great. Another one is Plaza del Olvido run by Miguel and his
chef Pepe (remember Miguels in town) the same excellent food and wine choices

Once again Restaurante Los Huertos on Los Huertos for quality Spanish food at a fair price. Merendero Sol on Burriana,
fantastic food, really friendly staff to practice your espanyol on. Ola Salvo!!
Also a quick mention to Rincon del Pico (I think that's how you spell it) on Burrianna. Rocky's up on St Juan, where Jorge
the Spanish chef does some great food!
Speaking to the owners and staff of various establishments it did seem that people were spending less, especially the Brits!!

Just have to say what a great meal, and evening at Napule we had the food was perfect and the service brilliant, the waitress was
attentive and the rest of the staff seemed so interested in us that we felt like family friends rather than customers! I was never really
a fan of italian food but thanks to my better half I am now converted.

Another enjoyable break in Nerja, including San Isidoro, although noticeably quieter this year especially on Burriana in the evenings.
As ever, excellent breakfasts at The Black Horse, Napule in Plaza Marina continues to provide a really excellent Italian menu
(altho' still suffering from its quiet location. However paid our first visit to Calabaza in Pintada, which immediately went top of our list,
excellent food from English head chef, efficient and friendly staff, plus excellent surroundings...and they were very busy, always a
good recommendation. Went back for a second bite !!

I can thoroughly endorse what Carol and Pam have said, we are also regular vistors to both Nerja and El Candil, the latest time being over Easter. We also bumped into the previous owners in El Candil – but this time as customers like ourselves. The old faces are still there and are (as always) very anxious to please – as you would expect in their new role as owners. We enjoyed three good and very reasonable meals there – if anything the place had a slightly more Spanish atmosphere which we found very pleasant.

As regular visitors to Nerja we were concerned to hear that our favourite restaurant El Candil had changed hands since we reviewed it last year. On visiting again we discovered that the staff had bought the restaurant and it is just as good as ever. Same excellent food and same happy and friendly service. It was also nice to see that the previous owners are still regular visitors. We love nothing more than to sit outside on El Candil’s wonderful terrace, watching the world go by enjoying good food and wine in a happy atmosphere.

I have been to Nerja every summer for the last 8 or 9 years and 3 years ago found La Galleria on Calle Huertos. Absoloutly Gorgeous food at a great price. I think it was a set meal for 8/9 euros each. Very yummy! Would Highly recommend. Bit of a walk if you are based in Nerja town itself maybe 15 minutes or so. But if you are in Capistrano it is much closer,

We found La Bodega Nueva the other night and decided to try their wines, from a 1.60 house wine to a 2.60 super dooper one. All served with a tapas (Julies choice) in a lovely bar. None of the wines disappointed but the 2.30 one was most excellent. Just wish we could remember the names!
